Ohio Valley General Hospital

Ohio Valley General Hospital

McKees Rocks, PA

Hospital Wing Addition

Project Description

Ohio Valley General Hospital’s plan was to expand services to the community and increase admissions and outpatient visits. To meet these goals and to provide better patient care, eight existing nursing units were consolidated into two 32-bed units, each with its own administrative, utility, and support areas. The nursing stations are prominently located in the corridor providing a focus for visitors and patients alike.

A new surgery and maternity center features six operating rooms, including two that accommodate orthopedic procedures. The maternity floor has ten private in-patient rooms, four LDR rooms, a specially-equipped room for C-sections, a nursery, and a state-of-the-art security system.

To enhance visitors’ first impressions of the hospital, renovations to the main entrance area included the addition of an entrance canopy, courtyard, and a short-term parking lot. Concrete paving was replaced with a landscaped garden and an outdoor eating / sitting area off of the main floor cafeteria. Interior renovations updated the public lobby and corridors, nuclear medicine and medical records departments, nursing services area, administrative and utilization offices, the cafeteria, and outpatient registration.  The emergency department was renovated to meet changing needs in emergency care.
